Deleting your account
How to close your account with the Triidha Foundation, what is removed when you do, and what the Trust is obliged to keep.
From inside the app
Open Profile, then Settings, then Delete account. The app shows you this same list before it asks you to confirm. Once you confirm, the account closes straight away and you are signed out on every device.
Without the app
Write to the Trust at sampark@triidha.org from the address the account was opened with, and ask for the account to be closed. If it was opened with a mobile number and no email, say which number. The Trust will write back when it is done.
What is removed
All of this goes, and none of it can be recovered afterwards:
- Your name, your email address and your mobile number.
- Your postal address and your PAN.
- Any Google or Facebook account linked to your sign-in.
- Your password, if you had set one.
- Every device and browser you were signed in on.
- Your practice journal, in full.
- Your course enrolments and your progress through them.
- Your contact preferences, and your volunteering availability.
- Any recurring gift is cancelled, so nothing further is ever collected.
What is kept, and why
Donation records, receipts and 80G certificates stay — and they stay with your name on them. The Income Tax Act requires the Trust to report the donations it receives to the department by donor, on Form 10BD, and an 80G certificate is a document an assessing officer may ask to see years after it was issued. A donation record with the donor taken off it is not a record the Trust can file.
So, plainly: after your account is deleted, your name and the email address you gave with a donation remain on that donation, on its receipt and on any 80G certificate issued for it. The same is true of the name and delivery address on anything you ordered from the Trust's shop, and of the name on a ticket for an event you registered for.
The Trust also keeps its own record of the messages it has already sent you, of what you did and did not agree to receive, and of the fact that this deletion happened and when. An instruction to stop writing to you has to keep working after the account it was given from is gone.
None of what is kept can be used to sign in. It is an accounting record, not an account.
How long it takes
The account closes immediately. There is no waiting period and no window in which it can be restored — if you want an account with the Trust again afterwards you open a new one, and you may use the same email address for it. The statutory records described above are kept for as long as the Income Tax Act requires the Trust to keep them.
